Ethics & Trust

Guide Code of Conduct

Every guide listed on Return to Source must read, understand, and explicitly agree to this code. This is not a formality — it is a sincere commitment to ethical service.

“A genuine guide does not create followers. A genuine guide returns the seeker to the Self.”

The Twelve Commitments

What every guide on this platform agrees to

01

No guaranteed enlightenment claims

A guide must never claim — explicitly or implicitly — that following their teaching, technique, or presence will produce enlightenment, realization, or awakening. Realization cannot be delivered by another person.

02

No miracle claims

Guides must not claim supernatural powers, transmission of energy, remote healing, or spiritual abilities as tools to attract seekers or justify authority.

03

No pressure to pay

Seekers must never feel pressured, shamed, or guilt-tripped into financial contribution. Voluntary support is welcome; financial coercion is not permitted.

04

No emotional dependency

A genuine guide consistently redirects the seeker toward their own awareness and inner authority — not toward the guide's continued approval or presence.

05

No sexual exploitation

Sexual relationships between a guide and a seeker they are actively guiding are prohibited. The power differential in a guidance relationship makes genuine consent impossible in this context.

06

No isolation of seekers

Guides must never encourage seekers to distance themselves from family, friends, community, or the wider world as a spiritual requirement.

07

No claims of exclusive truth

Guides must not teach that only their lineage, tradition, or method holds genuine access to truth, or attack sincere alternative spiritual paths.

08

No humiliation disguised as teaching

Publicly shaming, demeaning, or psychologically abusing seekers — even framed as 'ego work' — is prohibited without exception.

09

No anti-medical advice

Guides must never advise seekers to stop or reduce professional medical, psychiatric, or psychological care. Spiritual practice and professional care serve different needs.

10

Full financial transparency

All fees, suggested donations, and financial arrangements must be clearly disclosed before any session or commitment. No hidden costs.

11

Accept reports with humility

If a concern or complaint is raised about a guide's conduct, they must respond with openness rather than retaliation, dismissal, or framing criticism as the seeker's ego.

12

Point inward, not toward the guide

At every stage, the guide's fundamental gesture is to return attention to the seeker's own awareness. The guide is a pointer — not a destination.

Verification Note

What guide verification means — and does not mean

Return to Source does not certify anyone as enlightened, realized, or spiritually advanced. Guide verification means only that:

  • ·The guide has provided basic background information
  • ·The guide has read and explicitly agreed to this Code of Conduct
  • ·The guide has passed a basic trust review by platform moderators
  • ·The guide has no known serious reports at time of listing

Every seeker must use personal discrimination, independent judgment, and care when engaging with any guide — on this platform or elsewhere.
